The second interview in the Sacred Science of Sound online summit was with Dr. Kavitha Chinnaiyan.

Dr. Kavitha is a Cardiologist and Associate Professor of Medicine at Oakland University. She has studied meditation, Vedanta, Yoga, Tantra, and Ayurveda with teachers across the globe. She combines her knowledge of western medicine with ancient eastern wisdom teachings in her healing process.

Dr. Kavitha explained that according to ancient Vedic traditions, everything in creation, including matter, is vibration. All of creation begins from a primordial vibration which in its pure form is AUM. As the emanation continues it becomes different vibrational frequencies. Energy and matter are interchangeable because ultimately both are comprised of vibrations. This is also the essence of Tantra.

Everything in creation, along with being a vibration, also has its own unique frequency. Similarly, each organ in the human body has its own frequency. Disease can be thought of as the distortion of an organ’s original healthy frequency.

Dr. Kavitha further explained that there is a particular vibrational frequency at which we feel whole and healthy. According to Ayurveda, when we are in tune with this frequency, the systems are in harmony and the senses are swimming in bliss. Disease is a fall from this frequency of wholeness. Therefore, our work in healing is to come back to that frequency of wholeness by making right choices in terms of exercise, spiritual practice, diet, chanting, etc.

Jeralyn mentioned that slowing down the breath and allowing the crystal bowl frequencies to fill your body can help in coming back to a state of health. Breath, especially slowing down the breath and breathing consciously, is the key to centering. And being in a centered state is essential for better/faster healing.

Dr. Kavitha also works with Vedic chants. According to her, Vedic chants can also help us to raise our vibrations. With a combined practice of breathing and chanting, we can remove all the layers of who we think we are and connect with what we really are — the Eternal Unchanging Self.

I would like to add that our thoughts and beliefs also affect our vibrations. I remember watching a video (I don’t have the link right now) by Abraham Hicks where they mentioned that beliefs are practiced thoughts. So we can change our beliefs by changing what we think and vice versa. Examining our thoughts and beliefs; getting to the root of unhealthy thoughts and beliefs; and consciously modifying them will work in a complementary manner with Vedic chants and other forms of vibrational medicine.
