Nowadays, I find myself far more interested in reading a story if it's personal and authentic.

One thing is true, for sure, as a writer these days. In order to succeed, you are going to need to get personal on some level with your readers and audience. Share more of what you are going through and how you are finding success emotionally, spiritually or personally. Medium is right to make these changes because this is how we survive.
